An Introduction to me

I wanted to start off my blog page with an introduction to myself, to give everyone a chance to learn about the person whose books and thoughts they are reading.

I was born in South Africa, but now live in the United Kingdom.

I studied Maths and English Literature at the University of Manchester, and it was always my dream to be an author.

I had bills to pay however, and was scared to start writing, so for my whole working life, I worked in the corporate world, doing project management and business management, and eventually taking over as CEO of a software firm.

I am a survivor of domestic abuse, and have spent many hours with a counsellor trying to unpack why it happened, and to move past it.

Late 2023/Early 2024, I was having a really tough time, due to the stress of my CEO role and with areas I was working on in therapy. It became time for a change, and I started to think about writing again. I had dabbled over the years with making notes and jotting down thoughts for books, but had never written one end to end. During this time, the stress was massive, and I actually ended up having two heart attacks, and so my mind was made up. I wanted to make a difference in the world, and I wanted to help others avoid what I went though, and the toll it was having on me years later.

I left the corporate world behind, and made the decision to start writing and actively campaigning for awareness of domestic abuse against men. I want to men (and women) to have the right tools they need to get out of abusive relationships, and thrive after them. I want to break down stigmas around abuse against men, and I want people to see it can happen to anyone.

I was always successful in my work, and on top of that I am a big guy (who trains and competes in Strongman), so I am not what people would think is a "typical victim". I'm hoping that helps people to, seeing that it can happen to anyone.

I have made a new life for myself after my abuse, and am committed now to spreading the word, helping others, and hopefully making a difference in the world. I am in a wonderful relationship, with an incredibly kind, beautiful, and supportive woman, and I hope that can also give other men hope that they can move on.

To date I have written a series on Understanding Domestic Abuse & Narcissism, which consists of three books: Why didn't you just leave them?, Such Reckless Hate, and The Indifference of Good Men - all available on Amazon. I am working with newspapers, podcasts, TV, radio, and anyone else I can to spread the word and raise awareness for men.

I hope you like my books and my thoughts, and if you want to support this endeavour, grab your copies today, share the links to them to friends, family members, colleagues, and do whatever you can to raise awareness.

Thank you

Jared
