All of us have experienced difficult things in our lives, whether it be a relationship, health or financial issues. The choices we make and the meaning we find in these experiences can make all the difference.
For example, I was in a very abusive relationship, that ended in a kidnapping and near-death experience. I had an opportunity to analyze that relationship, how I was treated and the choice that was taken from me to leave. I realized that our choices in life are everything. I chose to find the silver lining in my horrifying encounter. My ex would never be able to harm my children and I ever again. This made the experience have purpose and value.
What choices are you making in your life? If you are looking the other way or putting your head in the sand, that is a choice. Are you making excuses for yourself or a partner? Are you allowing someone else to determine how you feel about yourself? What choices can you make right now to empower yourself? You get to CHOOSE!

Looking back, it was amazing how my brain processed the whole incident. Even though I had repeated my statement numerous times to the police, family and friends, it was as if I was telling a story about someone else.
